Business Casual With A Twist

Business casual is a pretty ambiguous term. To some, it means slacks and a button-down shirt. To others, it means a non-holey pair of jeans plus a nice top.

And to those of us who work in fashion, it means wearing something professional enough for a meeting, yet stylish enough for an impromptu photoshoot.

If you are like many women, you probably have separate wardrobes for the office and for ‘real life’, right?

Here at Team Romas, we frequently intermingle those pieces because we believe it’s important to not lose yourself in the name of being businesslike. That means crop tops at work are acceptable (if they are worn with a high-waisted skirt or pair of pants), as are mesh tops (when layered underneath a blazer or jacket).

It’s all about styling those trends in a way that is tasteful. While wearing a crop top or a mesh shirt may not be entirely appropriate for your line of work, there are still ways to incorporate your favorite fashion trends into your work wardrobe.

To create a ‘faux crop top’, tuck a blouse into a high waisted pair of pants to accentuate your waistline and create those same wonderful proportions that come with wearing a top that hits at your natural waistline. If dressing in anything sheer is a big no-no, buy yourself a pair of mesh socks to wear with all of your favorite pumps.

What are some of your go-to ways to rock your favorite runway looks at the office? Let us know in the comments!
