Happy Valentine’s Day!
February 14th is traditionally about fancy dinners, heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, and ridiculously-sized teddy bears, but you know what it’s really about, right? Love.
Just kidding. (It’s fashion.)
Think about it. If you are not wearing something that makes you feel like the most beautiful girl the world, the night loses much of its magic. But don’t fret if you have yet to nail down your look. No matter if you love classic V-day colors or would not be caught dead in them, we’ve got you covered with an expert-approved, last-minute outfit idea.
For the Hopeless Romantic:
You certainly cannot go wrong with a classic red or pink dress for your Valentine’s (or Galentine’s) date. These feminine hues are fun, bold, and will never go out of style. This year, go for a dress that has a fanciful detail, like statement sleeves, ruffles, or pearl embellishments for even more romance.
Don’t forget to finish off your look with some classic accessories, such as statement earrings, a delicate clutch, and some sky-high pumps. For your makeup look, opt for a red or pink lip that matches the shade of your dress, and swipe a glittery, metallic shadow across your lids.
For the Edgy Trendsetter:
While pink and red are classics, there is certainly no rule that states you have to wear them on Valentine’s Day--and you will definitely stand out if you don’t! Feel more than free to wear a dress that is any color of the rainbow on the most romantic day of the year.
You could go for a neutral, patterned dress to maintain that timeless feel, or you could even wear your favorite mustard yellow or ultra violet dress layered with a blazer to turn all heads in the room. Then, throw in some trendy accessories (like a Gucci belt & mesh socks) for good measure, put the finishing touches on that winged eyeliner, and you will have a splendid look that’s perfect for any day of the year.
